Detailed review: |
The reason we went for the hybrid was so that the wife could use the HOV lanes (by herself) for commuting. Being greener is a nice side benefit but it doesn't make economic sense. The hybrid drive system is a little strange at first but you get used to it quickly. The brakes also have slightly different feel and smooth stops are not quite as easy as other cars, but you adjust to that pretty quickly as well. Acceleration is very good, it has plenty of power. Handling is pretty good, not great. We traded a 2002 Audi S6 which is a beast with loads of power (it's capable of doing 155) and a sport suspension with excellent handling for a big wagon. The ride is outstanding, much more comfortable than the Audi on a bumpy road. It's also extremely quiet except under heavy acceleration (not needed often) where the gas engine makes a fair amount of noise. At average highway speeds it's nearly silent. Interior comfort and convenience are superior, best of any car we've owned. Nav system works very well and the Bluetooth speaker phone works great. Audio and climate control are also handled by the Nav screen. |
