The interior - The seats are comfortable and they look much better that most of the Detroit offerings |

The transmission gearing. I'd like to see the rev's down around 1800 rpm's at 60 mph. The addition of a six speed would really help the fuel mileage. |

Check with your insurer before you buy. Your premiums may be higher for this car than you anticipate. |

I bought a 2005 Spectra as a replacement for a Ford Festiva, (built by Kia for Ford). So far the car seems reasonable and for the price paid ($7995) I think I got good value for the dollars spent. It has been back to the dealer once for new struts (not failing, just noisy) and the service experience was painless. If I could hope for one change it would be the addition of a six speed transmission. In fifth gear at 70 mph the car is wound a little too tight. I feel if it had another gear the fuel mileage would be much better. One thing that is disappointing is that the Spectra is rated as a catagory seven risk so the insurance premiums are higher than average. For a driver under 25 the insurance cost may be a negative. |
