Outstanding build quality, reliability, 4cyl has adequate power, economical for a 4WD, and actually the better engine vs the 6cyl if you can live with less horsepower. (so says a Toyota tech person.) 5sp shifts great. OEM tires are just okay, will find better replacements when its time. Seating is uncomfortable. Rear jump seats are useless. Great instrumentation. Cab just needs to be a little bigger. Perhaps that will happen with 04 redesign. Rough ride and cumbersome handling, be careful on windy roads, wet surfaces, but safe if driven properly. These trucks are not for everyone and every other truck you drive will ride/handle better. But, these are the tradeoffs that you make to get better quality vs other makes. Options are pricey and salespeople tend to be arrogant. Avoid TRD package if you don't do much off roading. You'll save a few bucks. Bought my X-cab, SR5 at a dealership that sales Fords also and found them to much more accomodating during and after the sale than exclusive Toyota dealer. |
