After driving a 1999 Subaru Legacy for 6 months I was not expecting much from the new 2000; fortunately they have done some redesigning and the automatic transmission is now functional (the '99 is not...). I was pleased with the power, pick up and stability as well as the handling. It's not the 'gear-hunter' the 1999 is. The braking is still very spongy but they say it's designed that way (?). New interior is very user friendly, roomy and convenient. We were at the dealership to try to do something about the poor transmission on our new 1999. We test drove the 2000 and are very favorably impressed. However, we would get taken to the proverbial cleaner by trying to trade in the '99 - which doesn't meet our specs - and refuse to pay such a great differential (I expected more from Subaru - we have owned four of their vehicles). So the search continues.... |
