Less than 48 hours after buying our new 2005 3s 5 door, it would not start. Sometimes it is just dead, sometimes a click or two, and sometimes it just kept cranking until eventually starting, and by eventually I mean 10 or 15 minutes of sitting there. I took it to the dealer (not the dealer we bought from,because we were out of town) and they told us it was a bad fuel pump, and installed a new one. At the time, I was told that this has been a problem with Mazdas, so I inquired whether they had installed the same type of fuel pump that was known to have had problems and they said they had. Assuming the probelm was fixed, I left, and the next day the car would not start again. Back to the dealer it went, this time to the dealer we bought from. They claim they can't replicate the problem, which is irrelevant. We refuse to pick up the car until the problem is fixed. The honorable thing to do when a car has this kind of problem after only 48 hours is to simply take the car back. We bought this car because of the high ratings in Consumer Reports, so something is very wrong. We had the car in our possession for 4 days and it was a major headache. I never knew if I was going to get back from wherever I was, and how long it was going to take to get the car going. We wish we had never bought this car! |
