Tie - Body Style and Great Ride |
Least favorite feature: |
If I had to name one...the rear hatch cannot be opened by key, only button on driver side door or remote. |
Advice to buyer: |
Do not buy used, buy new. Splurge a little and get the alloy wheels and the sunroof (you'll be glad - better looking, better ride). You will be surprised at how much you will LOVE to drive this car! |
Detailed review: |
I have a 2003 GLS 2.0. I pretty much bought this car on a whim, without much thought. And boy am I glad I did! Do I really have to mention the body style? It is obvious that body style is this car's greatest strength. And I have to add that Platinum Gray is a really cool color for this car. It looks so...sweet! It's fun, it has 'go' power, and it handles corners like a champ!
Exterior: I love alloy wheels, really adds to the look. Foglights are a plus also.
Interior: The front seats don't just 'bend' forward, they kind of lift and move forward - it's easier than most 2-door cars to access the backseat. The lights on the dash are pretty different in a good way - purplish and red. I also recommend the Monsoon sound system (standard on GLS I think). It sounds great. I also like the doors directly under the window - they are the body of the car - material and color. Really adds a nice touch to the inside. The cup holders near the dash are better for cans than bottles, but does anyone really care? I also recommend leather seats. They really take the quality of the vehicle up a major notch. I've sat in a Beetle with cloth, though, and it's also nice. No negatives about it, it's just that the leather really kicks butt in this car. The sunroof adds a nice touch as well, you won't feel like you're driving in a 'bubble.'
Overall - you definitely won't be sorry! Buy it you will love it! It's one of those cars that once you buy, you must take all of your friends and family for a ride to rid them of any Beetle stereotypes they might have. They will be surprised to find out how much they like it too! Even though some may not want to admit it trust me they really do like it!
P.S. - This car has a horn that is kind of bigger than it's britches, for lack of a better term! If you have any worries that large SUVS/Trucks may try to take advantage of you on the road, just give the horn a try. It definitely does its job and then some. |
