GENERAL COMMENTS

"Legacy eats Camry and Civic for lunch. My wife wanted a Subaru and went with the '06 Legacy primarily for safety. She didn't want Outback or Forester. She wanted a straight-forward sedan. The front and side airbags + safety ratings are great. Our Legacy is blue with tan cloth interior...very stylish. It is all wheel drive and handles like a dream. I had a SUV prior to the Subaru and the SUV hydroplaned. I have not had any problems (Thank God) with the all wheel drive in snow or rain. Sportshift is useless but makes me feel special (because I, like most Americans need nice things to make me feel good). We have gone on a couple of trips with luggage for two adults and two kids in the trunk. Plenty of junk can go in that there trunk. There is a display in the car dash that tells time, temp and estimated real time gas mileage. Sun/Moon roof is a very nice feature. We have had the car close to two years and have no mechanical issues as one would expect with a new car. It is low to the ground so it can bottom out on declines. This seems almost unSubaru-like. For driver's with long legs, don't expect to be able to move your knees under the steering wheel. This frustrates me the most about the car. I have tilted the steering wheel as far as it will move up and slid my seat as far back as I feel comfortable enough to drive, without smushing my kid's legs, nothing helps. I still highly recommend this car. Subaru makes an excellent product."

"All I have to say is... why did I not ever think about getting a wagon before. I'm a single guy who does a lot with the youth group at my church and I'm always hauling stuff and people around. I looked at many Used SUV's to trade my truck for and ended up looking at my Subaru 2.5 Special Edition Wagon. I didn't want to spend the money or the gas on a turbo, but the special edition is the best of both worlds. It looks like a GT and you get the big moonroof without all the leather and stuff. I got the 5spd and I'm thrilled with the whole package. More power is always welcome but compared to what I was used to, this thing is plenty quick. It's also quiet, comfy and handles great. Best part is that 17's and dual exhaust help make it the best looking wagon on the market which makes up for the fact that i'm a single guy driving a station wagon!!! All the utility of an SUV but I am getting 24-25 MPG in mixed driving so far. I live where we get a lot of snow so I can't wait to test out the AWD. If you can still find an 06 you can get a great deal on it and still get a 5spd in the wagon!"

"A great car at a great price. Two days after buying it we took it on vacation and avaraged 28.7 mpg over 1 week and 670 miles of 70% highway and 30% city driving. Ride is very smooth and controlled. Layout of the instrument panel makes it very user friendly. Although the turbo would add excitement to the driving experience the standard 2.5 engine will still get the job done."

"This is a review for the 2006 2.5i Limited with manual transmission. I have had this car for almost two weeks. I have driven it almost 1,000 miles in that time. I have been on the freeway, highway, side streets, and dirt roads. Up hill going fast and uphill going slow (due to conditions). This is just an excellent vehicle. If you are NOT towing anything or hauling particularly heavy loads, I don't know why anyone would opt for the turbo or V6 with the higher gas prices and lower MPG. On a four hour trip which was mostly freeway and about 60% of the trip was at speeds of 75 mile an hour (or slightly higher : )) I averaged 30.0 MPG. Can you beat that for a car like this?"

"Having owned a 2003 version of the same model I can tell you the '06 Subaru has come along way as far as styling, interior materials, comfort, HP, MPG and noise. I love this car. It's smooth, it's fearless in foul weather, beautiful to look at and a real value when you consider the advanced safety features, all wheel drive, quality of the interior and standard 4 wheel disc brakes. I was happy with my '03 and no intention on buying a new car until I test drove an '06 to kill time while at the dealer for an oil change. While the '03 was a good, dependeable car that handled incredibly well in all types of weather and loved to drive at the redline it was loud and crude compared to the '06. My one disappointment was my decision to move from a 5-speed in the '03 to an automatic in the '06. You loose a lot of pick up and fun with the auto. The auto is smooth and quiet but lags a bit off the line. After you hit second gear it really gets up and goes. It passes amazingly well, going from 70- 90 with no effort. The 5-speed supplies lots of torquey fun and is much more aggressive (which gets a little tired in big city rush hour traffic, thus the switch). One thing to consider when buying a Subaru is that the recommended maintenance is pretty costly. But if properly cared for this vehicle should last a good long time. I have a friend with a Legacy with over 300k on it. If you're looking for great combination of styling performance, versatility and MPG buy this is your car."

GENERAL LIKES

"Safety ratings, all wheel drive, handling, style, moonroof. It's handsome and pretty at the same time." "Handling & the huge moonroof are awesome. " "AWD of course plus the double sunroof on the wagon." "Dual moonroof" "Styling. Handling. The horsepower is semi-modest but this car will go if you jump on it- it likes to go fast. The big-ass sunroof is very cool. "

GENERAL DISLIKES

"It rides very low to the ground; my knees hit the steering wheel even at maximum tilt." "I slightly bigger backseat would be nice & no ipod jack (added in 07)" "Light color taupe interior will show dirt" "Power locks - they are reverse from what you would think it would be logically (but you get used to it)" "The car sits very low"
