GM Now Stands for "Green Mobility"
2-Mode Hybrids

General Motors is ready to roll out their 2-Mode Hybrid system on the Saturn Vue, the GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe for the 2008 model year. This system, which is an advancement of their current system in place with the Vue, promises fuel economy savings of up to 45 percent better than a similar non-hybrid vehicle. The difference? According to GM, two electric continuously variable “modes” and four fixed gear ratios. Of course, hybrids are known for getting significantly less than the EPA estimated MPG, so don’t be surprised if GM’s new hybrids come slightly lower in real world economy. The Vue Greenline 2-Mode will be powered by GM’s 3.6-liter V6 engine.
